The problem with inorganic minerals

What chelation does

Minerals are essential to growth, fertility, immunity and milk production. But how a mineral is delivered often matters as much as how much is fed.

Inorganic sources such as sulphates and oxides dissolve quickly in the gut, where they can bind with phytates, fibre and other minerals. The result is poor absorption and higher excretion.

In a chelate, the mineral is bound to an organic molecule, which protects it through digestion. The mineral stays available until it reaches the site of absorption.

Our 2 Platforms

Sky Stellar Minerals is ever evolving and ever expanding with the foundations being kept the same.

Glycine chelates

(Zinc Glycine, Copper Glycine): the mineral is bound to the amino acid glycine, a small molecule absorbed through amino acid pathways. Well suited to animal feed.

EDTA chelates

(Zn-EDTA, Iron EDTA, Copper EDTA): highly stable chelates that stay soluble across a wide pH range, widely used in crop nutrition.

Cattle are not simple-stomached animals. Our programmes consider rumen conditions, so buffers, yeast and bypass nutrients are included alongside minerals.
